Doctor Jennifer Lincoln is a famous author, OB-GYN, and content creator with a massive following base of 1,2 million on YouTube, 2,8 million on TikTok, and 209K on Instagram. There, she shares valuable content about sexual and reproductive health, and this time she reviewed our app, Aya Contigo, emphasizing its virtual abortion doula approach.
“This is an app and a website that acts like a virtual abortion doula, which is somebody who helps you with an abortion, but they’re in your pocket”, she explains. “There is a live chat option that you can use both in English and in Spanish and you can use it on the website or by downloading the app.”
Dr. Lincoln highlighted that Aya Contigo, our award-winning app, can be used for help during an abortion as well as deciding your options and for support after that process, and added that it is a safe resource: “I want to emphasize it is secure… This does not collect any data and they are anonymous to use.”
This is important because there is a lot of information online that is not fact-checked and people need to have access to reliable support before, during, and after abortion.
For reliable information about abortion, emotional support during your process, and fact-checked data about contraceptives you can check Aya Contigo here.
An abortion doula for the Latinx community
Dr. Lincoln also emphasized the significance of this app being developed by two OB-GYNs, Dr. Roopan Gill and Dr. Genevieve Tam. They didn't just treat patients; they took the initiative to address a critical global concern like unsafe abortions.
“What makes it different from other resources? Well, I love that this was first founded in Spanish, not in the US, so it has a really great built-in support for Latinx users, and it is not like Spanish was an afterthought. I do love that”, she remarked.
Dr. Lincoln invited people to spread the word about Aya Contigo by sharing her video, making a screenshot, and posting it on their stories.
Other trusted resources
During her review, she featured other trusted resources like Charlie Chatbot, which is a secure chatbot that provides information about abortion; M&A Hotline, the guide through miscarriage and abortion care provided by a team of clinicians with years of experience; and The Online Abortion Resource Squad (OARS) that runs the abortion subreddit.
Other sites reviewed did not meet the criteria of Dr. Lincoln, and some of them were flagged as openly biased and full of false information. This is concerning because it was the top sponsored content on Google when searching for abortion help, so she showed the audience how to report these ads.
Some of these websites are Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPC), and Dr. Lincoln warned about their modus operandi: “These CPCs are making their websites difficult to know exactly what they are and they’re increasingly trying to convince you that you need to come in for an ultrasound, that you need to see them to talk about your abortion. Because once they get you in the door the goal is to talk you out of abortion.”
She called out the “predatory” tactics of these centers and said that if you want to take action you can report the sites.
This reminds us of the essential role of apps like Aya Contigo in providing reliable, safe support for those seeking abortion care. With the backing of respected medical professionals, and a strong foundation of user support, Aya Contigo stands out as a reliable virtual abortion doula and a critical resource for reproductive health.
